A Rising Star Cut Short:

Sana, a popular figure among Pakistani youth, had amassed a significant online following, boasting nearly 800,000 TikTok followers and close to 500,000 on Instagram. She was basically from Chitral KPK and a pre-medical student. she was shot at a close range to death on her birthday 3 June in Islamabad at her home.

Horrific Details Emerge:

The FIR recounts that around 5:00 PM on Monday, an unidentified man entered the family’s residence brandishing a pistol. Farzana Yousaf stated in her complaint that the assailant “shot straight at my daughter with the intention to kill.” Two bullets struck Sana in the chest. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

Sana Yousaf, a popular TikToker from Chitral KPK, was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for an autopsy. The police are investigating the situation but haven’t made any arrests yet.

According to police sources, the suspect may have been at Sana’s house when the shooting happened. They said the suspect entered, fired a few shots, and then fled the scene.

Witnesses Describe Assailant:

Describing the suspect, Farzana noted that the man had a “smart appearance,” of “moderate height and physique,” and was wearing a black shirt and pants at the time of the attack. She and her sister-in-law, Lateefa Shah—who was visiting the household—were both present during the incident and have claimed they would be able to identify the shooter if seen again. This tragedy follows a worrying pattern of violence linked to social media in Pakistan. Earlier this year, a father in Quetta admitted to killing his 15-year-old daughter over objections to her TikTok activity. In separate incidents in Lahore, two male TikTok users were killed due to accidental firearm discharges while recording content.

However, it has faced regulatory backlash, including four separate bans in 2021 alone. Though currently accessible, the app operates under stringent content moderation policies to comply with local legal standards.
